Butts Bridge Highway Improvements, Alton – Test Train Run

The first test train passed over Whitedown Lane Bridge on Tuesday. Two heavy diesel engines were coupled together and driven back and forth over the bridge at varying speeds by Mid Hants Railway. Throughout the week, further trains will be used to bring the track back into service by wearing the rails and creating a good contact surface for the track signalling equipment.
