The University’s waterfront Innovation Centre is made up of purpose-built facilities for learning, teaching and applied research, as well as social, leisure and recreational spaces.

The 12,000m² Phase 1 of the development involved the construction of a new Library and Faculty of Architecture, Computing and Engineering.

Jubb were responsible for the Civil, Structural and Geotechnical elements of the project. The complex construction of the 4-storey steel framed Faculty building involved building over existing buried dock structures. Jubb’s geotechnical team undertook a detailed foundation options appraisal to ensure the most cost effect risk free solution was adopted.

The 3-storey concrete framed University Library building was designed to have exposed concrete soffits and a feature roof structure. Jubb attended site on a regular basis, working closely with the contractor to ensure the quality of the build was maintained.
