The new Pavilion Project completes the final phase of major development at Somerset County Cricket Club. The work required the demolition of the Old Pavilion, St. James Building /Deane Suites, and Ancillary Buildings to facilitate the construction of the new Somerset Pavilion.

The project provides a first class facility for Members, Spectators, and Visitors to enjoy domestic cricket, and to enable the Somerset Pavilion to be used to generate commercial revenue from non-cricket related activity. The facility also allows Somerset County Cricket Club to meet the technical specifications for International Cricket in combination with other ground improvement works.

The project comprises of a new 1650 seat grand stand, restaurant, retail outlet, office areas, conference & media facilities, roof top terrace and feature canopy structure. The main frames were formed from hot rolled steel works with hollow core plank floors, and precast stadia elements for the seating areas. The ground conditions required a deep foundation solution, therefore piles have been utilised in combination with ground beams and a suspended ground floor slab.

The project has been designed using 3D analysis (Building Designer) software and was detailed in REVIT.  Jubb were responsible for the civil, structural, transport planning and FRA elements of this project.
